This year Bentley Home takes part in Progettare Futuri Possibili, the design competition created by Fondazione Franco Albini to give young talent a stage and a method.

The challenge is to revisit one of our most recognisable pieces, the Galloway sofa, and reinterpret it through the thinking of Franco Albini. An invitation to look at a contemporary object through a discipline that has shaped Italian design for decades, and to imagine where it can go next.

A method, a challenge

THE CHALLENGE

Franco Albini designed objects meant to outlast trends and generations. His method strips a project down to what truly matters and rebuilds it with clarity. Applied to the Galloway sofa, it moves through five steps, deconstruct, seek the essence, reconstruct, verify and act with social responsibility. The aim is a new vision of contemporary luxury, essential, sustainable and rooted in the culture of design.

HOW IT UNFOLDS

Three finalists are selected from all entries. Together they take part in an intensive training week, moving between Casa Albini in Sardinia and Milan, where they work alongside the Albini Archive and turn their individual projects into a single collective project built through co-creation. The result is revealed during Milan Design Week 2027 and presented at the Triennale.

The starting point of the challenge. Designed for Bentley Home, the Galloway sofa brings together comfort, proportion and craftsmanship in a piece that speaks the language of contemporary luxury. This is the object entrants are invited to deconstruct and reimagine.
