Timemade by David Dolcini in the Trussardi Casa temporary store

During the Salone del Mobile 2024, Trussardi Casa hosted the works of David Dolcini in its temporary store on Via Santa Cecilia, in conjunction with Milan Design Week. TIMEMADE was chosen for
the purity and essentiality of its forms, capable of expressing simplicity and warmth at once, thanks to the materiality of the wood, handcrafted with no finishing treatment, allowing its animate nature to emerge.

Dolcini's research is deeply connected to the DNA of Trussardi Casa, where materials become the protagonists of an authentic sensory experience. The wood used for TIMEMADE, like travertine and the other iconic materials in the collections, recounts a design to be discovered through touch, a language marked by essentiality, authenticity, and time.

“Everything I do, from research to creation to the use of materials, is a process that requires a physiological amount of time, which should be respected and allowed for. I consider this to be the approach that we human beings should have towards the world. When we come into contact with nature, we should be aware of the importance of the time we have and give it the value it deserves”.

TIMEMADE: DESIGN THAT REDISCOVERS THE VALUE OF TIME

Born in Milan into a family with a solid tradition of craftsmanship and production, David Dolcini embodies an approach to design that weaves heritage, innovation, and research together. His vision is not limited to academic theory but is also nourished by a wealth of experience gathered around the world, enriched by a profound knowledge of materials and production technologies. His design method is an all round exploration that combines art, history, craftsmanship, and science. Each piece is the result of a balance between technical rigour and creative freedom, between acquired knowledge and the instinct to create.

In 2020, TIMEMADE was born of this philosophy, a research project freed from functional and production constraints in order to rediscover the value of time in the creative process. With no deadlines or impositions, Dolcini devotes himself to the pure gesture of manual workmanship, giving life to unique pieces made mainly of wood, a material that embodies memory and transformation through its botany and morphology.

This project explores the concept of time as a founding element of design. Grafting becomes a metaphor for the process, a meeting point between forms, materials and tools, where design is not an imposition, but a harmonious negotiation with matter.

The result is a design whose function is not imposed, rather it is discovered in the process, in a continuous play of affinities and connections.
